Get “Cheeky” - Add Dimension To The Face
Outlined cheek bones can make the whole face look more attractive. Even if you’re not born with them, you can still have them.
The cheeks are the widest area of the entire face, so they do deserve special care. A deficient cheek structure can make the whole face look drawn and outlined. Strong cheek bones can make people look more attractive, so do prominent, full cheeks that give a youthful, healthy appearance. The cheek lines with excessive fat can make people look overweight and heavy when in fact they are not.
Some people may wish to have implants placed over the cheekbones to help restore a more youthful and attractive appearance. Cheek implants can provide new facial contours and dimensions to bring facial features into better balance, but when it is performed incorrectly, it can look very unnatural.
The implants come in various synthetic materials and shapes, so be sure to consult the doctor and hear about the choices. If cheek implant surgery is performed in conjunction with other facial procedures, the implants may be inserted through the incisions used for that procedure. It can also be done alone, in which case incisions are made inside the upper lip near the gums. The implants are placed on or below the cheekbones and the incisions are closed with sutures that the body absorbs.
Not everyone is a good candidate for cheek implants. The first and most important requirement is good physical and mental health, without any active diseases or any other pre-existing medical conditions. The surgeon needs to take your medical history and wants to know if you have had cosmetic procedures or dental problems in the past to avoid unnecessary complications.
The treated area may feel tight, swollen and uncomfortable in the days following the surgery and there will be temporary facial swelling. The patient will feel tender, stiff and sore for a few days and should not move too much. Swelling is a normal reaction to an injury and is categorized as a natural inflammatory action. In a few days, these will subside, and the pain can be alleviated by pain medication. Movement of the mouth may initially be difficult. If incisions are made inside the mouth, you may be placed on a liquid diet for several days until there is adequate healing to allow for chewing and food particles to come in contact with the incisions.
